Game Mechanics

Understand time, flooding, repairs and the difference between travel distance and route estimates.

Time and preparation

Community reference values describe a day of roughly 73 real minutes. Plan wildlife photography around the species' stated time window, and use camping when you want time to move faster.

Water resistance buys time

An engine floods when its air intake stays submerged too long: the reference gives 8 seconds normally, then 10 and 12 seconds at the two purchased water-resistance stages. Keep the intake above water; a higher stage is extra recovery time rather than unlimited underwater travel.

Cabins, the Mechanic and a repair kit can restore the vehicle. Tools need to be selected before the trip. Trail lengths on this wiki may be straight-line segments between checkpoints; terrain and detours can make the driven route longer.
