Gem Forge is an Ancient device, fueled by Archaic Essence which can be found in Shroud Lairs. It can be used to insert, extract and recycle Gems that you may find.

Functionality

Gems can be upgraded, socketed into weapons, or recycled into Archaic Essence. Upgrading increases a gem’s strength, improving the bonus it provides when inserted into a weapon.

Recycling a gem returns Archaic Essence, and both the type and amount depend on the Gem Forge location and the gem’s level. Higher-level gems yield more essence than lower-level ones, and certain forge locations provide specific essence types. For example, a Gem Forge in Veilwater Basin grants Archaic Essence (40), and a level 40 gem will return more than a level 20 gem.

When working with a specific weapon, you can manage the socket directly, allowing you to insert a gem, extract one, or upgrade the gem already slotted without replacing the weapon.

Gem Forge Locations

You can find three Gem Forges in each biome, the level that they can upgrade gems to is limited for each Forge. The forges will mostly be found in the Shroud and the most powerful Gem Forges will be inside of a Night Sanctum.

Springlands

The Springlands Gem Forges use Archaic Essence (5) and have a maximum level of 10-12.
