Fell Critter

Overview

Some critters in later biomes are able to fly, and use this to patrol the area they reside in.

Critters are almost always found in swarms with anywhere from a handful to a few dozen members.

They are not to be confused with the larger, bright-red variant the Exploding Fell Critter.

Attacks

Critters attack by lunging toward the player and attempting to bite. Flying Critters will fly toward a player and perform an aerial lunge. Flying critters become briefly dazed and drop to the ground after receiving damage.

The danger of Fell Critters lies with their numbers, as large swarms of rapidly attacking critters can quickly overwhelm a player. They are best fought in a team, with area-damaging attacks, or by fighting while moving to stay ahead of the swarm.

Spawning

Fell Critters can spawn almost anywhere in the Shroud, but they are most often found in areas of heavy activity in the Shroud; this includes Elixir Wells, around Shroud Roots, and in ruined villages or towns within the Shroud.

In mycelium-covered areas of the Shroud, Critters have a chance to spontaneously pop up from the ground to attack the player.

Fell Critter Nests will continuously spawn critters unless destroyed (best done using a felling axe or fire damage).

Fell Critters are also often spawned as secondary enemies in boss fights; with the Fell Critter Queen and Fell Wispwyvern both summoning critters in their fights.

Drops

Fell Critters drop different materials depending on the biome they are encountered in, as reflected in the table below. Their drops are used in many different crafting recipes at all levels.

Unlike most other weaker Fell, they do not drop Shroud Spores or Runes.
