Hollow Halls
The Hollow Halls are ancient dungeon complexes of unknown origin, believed to have existed for several millennia. Shrouded in mystery, these vast subterranean crypts serve as banishment grounds for the Hollow — a cast-out underclass condemned by The Flame. Marked by a terrible curse, the Hollow are fated to walk Embervale in undeath for all eternity.
Overview
Among those consigned to the Hollow Halls are both humans and the formidable Cyclops — one-eyed giants who once dwelled upon the mountaintops of the Albaneve Summits. In an attempt to escape their fate, the Cyclops descended into the depths of the Halls, but still fell victim to The Flame's curse. Twisted by their torment, the Hollow Cyclops now haunt the lowest reaches of the Halls, serving as the final guardians and most formidable foes encountered within.
Gameplay
The Hollow Halls feature challenging content suggested for group play, although they can be completed solo by a well-geared character. They are designed to be more difficult than all but the hardest overworld encounters.
Enemies
The standard encounter in each Hollow Halls is a large pack of Hollow enemies. Players should be prepared to fight multiple enemies at once, either by dealing area-of-effect damage or by eliminating the most threatening enemies (usually Hollow Reapers or Hollow Mages) first. The final encounter usually includes one or more Hollow Cyclops, which deals significant melee damage that should be dodged.
The Revelwood Hollow Halls includes sections inhabited by hostile Revelwood creatures such as Vicious Vines, Rats, and Bats.
The Kindlewastes Hollow Halls have been invaded by the Shroud and include extensive Shrouded sections inhabited by the Fell. The final encounter includes two Hollow Cyclops and a Fell Sicklescythe.
Barrier Doors

Barrier Rune
Some parts of each Hollow Halls are blocked by Barrier Doors. The tally marks on the barrier indicate how many runes must be collected to open the door. Runes are either hidden in the area before the door (collected by running over them) or held by enemies with the rune symbol over their heads (collected by defeating them).
Reanimators
Reanimators are piles of bones that spawn additional Hollow enemies over time. They should be quickly destroyed with explosives or axes so as not to be overwhelmed by the Hollow. They will spawn enemies indefinitely until destroyed.
Toxic Slime
Some parts of the Hollow Halls are covered in Toxic Slime. Standing on the Toxic Slime triggers the Slimy debuff (which deals poison damage, slows, and drains stamina) and should be avoided (such as by jumping). Toxic Slime can be mined using a pickaxe.
